Deference Reform
Americans for Prosperity–Kansas supports codifying the principle that courts—not administrative agencies—are responsible for interpreting laws. Judicial deference allows unelected bureaucrats to expand their authority under the guise of expertise, often at the expense of transparency, accountability, and individual liberty. While the Kansas Supreme Court ended formal deference in 2013, ambiguity remains in practice.
