Educational Opportunity & School Choice

According to statewide assessment scores of math, language arts, and science, 70% of Kansas students either need remedial training or are performing below grade level. Americans for Prosperity believes in giving each individual student the best opportunity to succeed. Kansas parents deserve more educational options for their children. Therefore, AFP-Kansas will advocate for an Education Savings Account, where Kansas parents’ hard-earned tax dollars can be used directly for the betterment of their child’s education.

Americans for Prosperity–Kansas supports expanding educational freedom through policies that empower families to choose the learning environment that best meets their children’s needs. School choice ensures that education funding follows the student—not the system—whether that means attending a public, private, charter, or homeschool setting. By advancing tools like Education Savings Accounts (ESAs), tax credit scholarships, and open enrollment options, Kansas can foster a more responsive and competitive education landscape. These reforms promote innovation, accountability, and equity, especially for families in underserved or rural communities. School choice reflects the principles of limited government, individual dignity, and bottom-up decision-making—ensuring every Kansas student can succeed, regardless of income or ZIP code.
